Task Force applauds U.S. House’s rejection of Federal Marriage Amendment

The U.S. House of Representatives today failed to secure the votes necessary to pass a proposed constitutional amendment that would prohibit the recognition of same-sex marriage and preclude courts from extending other types of family protections to same-sex couples.

Vote on Massachusetts anti-marriage constitutional amendment postponed

The Massachusetts constitutional convention recessed July 12 without considering a constitutional amendment proposed by initiative petition that would effectively overrule the state high court’s 2004 decision that required the state to license same-sex marriages.
