Bex Ahuja
Senior Field Organizer

Bex began grassroots organizing on higher education campaigns and youth vote campaigns in 2002 while simultaneously studying mechanical engineering at Stony Brook University. In 2004, Bex went on to work at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and since then, Bex has organized and led ballot measure and legislative campaigns in over 17 states around the country. Campaigns have ranged from passing transgender-inclusive non-discrimination bills in small, midwest towns to winning/defending the freedom to marry in statewide campaigns; Bex has had played key senior leadership, management, consultant roles in field, paid and earned media, direct mail, micro-targeting, and new voter turnout.

When off the campaign trail, Bex’s passion is working side-by-side with activists to do strategic grassroots organizing and collective action that builds community and leadership capacity for queer and trans people of color.

Bex is on the board of the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance, volunteers to do security for Audre Lorde Project events, is a member of Q-WAVE, and is on the steering committee of Rainbow New Apostolic Church.

Outside of activist life, look no further than Brooklyn, N.Y. where Bex can be found enjoying being an NYC foodist, amateur church choir director, and most importantly, being a big’ol ham at a karaoke bar with a bunch of queer Asians.
