Inga Sarda-Sorensen
Director of Communications

For 20 years, Inga Sarda-Sorensen served as a reporter, editor and producer for print and broadcast media outlets. Her professional background includes work as a reporter/producer covering New York politics for a National Public Radio affiliate, and newspaper editorships in New York City and Portland, Ore.

More recently, she served as communications director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City, the largest such community center on the East Coast and second largest in the world.

As National Gay and Lesbian Task Force communications director, Sarda-Sorensen works with a wide array of media, including outlets such as the Associated Press, The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe, The Nation, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Daily Kos, Politico, The Hill, Huffington Post, MSNBC, ABC, C-Span, Pacifica Radio and many others. In addition, she works closely with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender media and a variety of bloggers.

A strong advocate for (and passionate user of) social media, Sarda-Sorensen helped launch the Task Force’s social media program.

On a personal note, Sarda-Sorensen legally married her same-sex partner of 14 years in California in 2008. The couple lives in New York City.
