Moof Mayeda
Senior Field Organizer
Moof Mayeda graduated from UCLA in 2004 with a double major in mathematics and microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics. She has been involved in queer and anti-racist organizing both on campus and in the greater Los Angeles community. In 2003, she worked with a coalition of progressive organizations, including student groups and the Task Force, on a successful campaign to defeat Proposition 54, a racist ballot initiative. During her time at UCLA, she facilitated a weekly queer women's rap group, co-founded Queer x Girl, a student organization for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women and allies, and served as a board member of the Queer Alliance. Mayeda was also a key organizer of Ladyfest Los Angeles in 2002, and OUTcry!, a queer women's music and art festival, in 2004. After joining the Task Force as a fellow, she worked on Oregon's campaign to defeat that state's anti-marriage amendment, where she organized door-to-door canvasses in Portland and the surrounding areas.
Mayeda currently lives in Silverlake, where she spends what little free time she has contemplating the failures of identity politics, photographing her communities and learning from the revolutionaries who came before us.
