Sarah E. Reece
Director of the Academy for Leadership and Action

Sarah Reece is a community and electoral organizer for non-profit organizations, candidate campaigns and municipal government. During her 6.5 year tenure at the Task Force, she has worked side by side with state and local LGBT leaders and allies to build political power through dynamic and aggressive electoral organizing and leadership development efforts. She is a gifted teacher, trainer and public speaker and combines her hard-earned personal experience with tested campaign strategies and organizing models to educate volunteers and leaders to build large teams of people to organize effectively.

Reece’s biggest accomplishments and leadership roles in campaigns came in 2004 as the Campaign Manager for the Kentucky NO on the Amendment campaign and 2008 as the Statewide Field Director for the California NO on Proposition 8 campaign. Despite the electoral losses, the KY campaign engaged thousands of new volunteers and donors across the Commonwealth, raised over $600,000 and identified nearly 20,000 pro-LGBT voters to strengthen Fairness and equality for all Kentuckians. Likewise, the NO on Prop 8 Field Campaign identified over 136,000 pro-LGBT voters and raised over $1.3 Million dollars through grassroots fundraising—more money and more identified voters through a volunteer field effort than ever before in an LGBT ballot measure campaign.

Reece, who is happily married, lives in Los Angeles, CA.
