The Wedding March
Sunday, May 23, 2004
New York City
TELL PRESIDENT BUSH YOU WON'T BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST!
DEMAND YOUR MARRIAGE RIGHTS HERE IN NY!
CELEBRATE MASSACHUSETTS FOR BEING THE FIRST STATE TO MARRY SAME-SEX COUPLES!
On May 23, something spectacular is going to happen. Thousands of people will be marching across the Brooklyn Bridge for the marriage equality currently denied to same-sex couples.
Couples, elected officials, clergy, and gay and non-gay allies will join together to demand equality in NY State, as we celebrate the Massachusetts marriages.
What: THE WEDDING MARCH: Crossing the Bridge for marriage equality
When: Sunday, May 23, 11 a.m.
Where: We will begin at Cadman Plaza (line-up at Cadman Plaza East) in Brooklyn and end in a rally at Battery Park.
Couples will walk across the bridge two-by-two, followed by their supporters. The marchers will be wearing a number, signifying one of the 1,138 Federal rights same-sex couples are denied to all same-sex couples, even in Massachusetts.
All are welcome. Make this day special by bringing family, friends, neighbors and colleagues!

The mission of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is to build the political power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community from the ground up. We do this by training activists, organizing broad-based campaigns to defeat anti-LGBT referenda and advance pro-LGBT legislation, and by building the organizational capacity of our movement. Our Policy Institute, the movement’s premier think tank, provides research and policy analysis to support the struggle for complete equality and to counter right-wing lies. As part of a broader social justice movement, we work to create a nation that respects the diversity of human expression and identity and creates opportunity for all. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., we also have offices in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis and Cambridge.
